Short Term Versus Long Term Dumpster Rental

Need a dumpster for your home improvement or trash removal project? It can be difficult to decide whether you need a short-term or a long-term dumpster rental. However, it is important to know what type of rental you need in order to get the best deal.

Why does it matter if you rent short-term or long-term? We offer discounts on long-term rentals. You will pay less per day for them than you would if you extended a short-term rental. However, long-term rentals are more expensive than a short-term rental in terms of total cost. Therefore, you want a rental that is the right length of time in order to get the best financial value.

To determine how long you need the dumpster, you need to think about the parameters of the project.

  • What are you doing?
  • How many people are working on the project?
  • How long do you estimate the project will take?
  • Are there factors that could delay the project?

One question people have is how long they can keep the dumpster. Most people keep dumpsters for 3 to 4 days. However, you can keep dumpsters for longer periods of time. As long as you stay in contact with us and continue to pay for renting the dumpster, we will extend your rental period several times. So, there is no real limit to how long you can keep the dumpster. However, if you stop contacting us, we may pick up a dumpster before you call for haul-off. So, there really is not an issue for how long you can keep a dumpster.

We consider a short-term rental to be any rental up to 3 days. Long term dumpster rentals are from 5 to 7 days. If you go past your contracted rental time, you can expect to pay an additional daily fee for the dumpster rental. Usually, the additional daily fee for the dumpster is relatively small, around $10. However, those costs can add up, quickly, so you want to make sure and rent your dumpster for the right amount of time.

To decide what type of rental you need, you should ask your dumpster rental company some questions. Ask them how long their short-term rentals and long-term rentals are. Ask about the fees for extra days of rental? Delivery and haul-off should be included in the price they quote you but check to make sure.
